Volunteer Centre Launch of New Forest Voluntary Car SchemeA recruitment campaign is being launched this month to attract voluntary drivers to join local Neighbourcare groups.

The pilot covering the whole of the New Forest is being supported by the Volunteer Centre at Community First New Forest, Hampshire County Council and the Good Neighbour Support Service.

Anyone with some free time is being encouraged to spare a few hours assisting the most vulnerable members of our communities, taking them to hospitals, health care appointments and to visit partners in care homes.

Hazel Dyson, from Community First New Forest’s Volunteer Centre says,

“This is a vital service in our rural community.  There is no regular commitment – just as and when you are free to help.  If you are unable to drive then perhaps you could assist as a co-ordinator or committee member instead.”
