Many voluntary and community groups across the New Forest have been helped to succeed thanks to local organisation Community First New Forest.
The charity supports voluntary and community groups with a range of services including funding advice, subsidised training and volunteer placement.
During the past 6 months alone, Community First New Forest has helped 19 groups and 2 individuals to access funding, using its FunderFinder database.
Funding of £85,000 has been successfully secured with many applications still awaiting outcome.
Examples of the assistance given by Community First recently include a local group providing support to cancer sufferers and their families have been helped with advice in several areas including Criminal Records Checks, governance and sources of funding.
Another local group who provide outreach services to young people has been awarded £12,000 with the help of Community First New Forest.
The money will be used to provide advice & guidance concerning smoking, drugs use and lifestyle choices.
Community First New Forest is happy to support any groups or individuals through the funding application process.
During the past 6 months Community First's Volunteer Centre, has placed 42 new volunteers with local voluntary and community groups.
This is a 36% increase on this period for the previous year.
Volunteering contributes to the community in many different ways.
It is calculated that the volunteers placed by Community First New Forest have brought an economic value of £127,355 to the District during this period.
In addition to supporting voluntary and community groups, Community First New Forest also runs a range of projects for communities and individuals who may be socially disadvantaged, vulnerable and isolated.
Services include New Forest Nightstop, Young Carers and Community Transport.
