Healthy Walks Leader training in the New Forest
Free Walk Leader training is being offered to people wishing to organise and lead healthy walks across the New Forest.
The training is being provided by Community First New Forest at Lyndhurst Community Centre on Tuesday 21 February 2012.
Trainees will learn about the benefits of walking as well as barriers to exercise and how to motivate people.
They will also have the opportunity to take part in a practice health walk.
On completion of the one day course, leaders will be able to plan a route and carry out a risk assessment of the walk route.
Jan Barratt, Healthy Walks Administrator at Community First New Forest, explains,
“Walking is a really good natural exercise that contributes to living longer, staying healthy and controlling weight. It’s also a great way of discovering more about the area people live in and spending time with family and friends.”
If you have an interest in health and fitness and would like to lead walks on a weekly or monthly basis in the New Forest then get in touch with Jan Barratt, Healthy Walks Administrator, Community First New Forest, on 01425 482773 or healthywalks@cfnf.org.uk
As the training day includes a practice walk, all those taking part will need to bring suitable wet weather clothing and footwear. |
