Community First New Forest Volunteer Centre was delighted to host the ‘Celebration of Volunteering’ at Hoburne Bashley, New Milton on the 11th May.
Over a hundred people from 20 voluntary organisations came to the Forest Rooms at Hoburne to celebrate the invaluable work, commitment and dedication that they give to the community.
The evenings’ entertainment was from the ‘The Waterside Musical Society’, with a medley of popular songs, and some excerpts from their new show ‘The Secret Garden’.
Councillor Paul Woods, Chairman of New Forest District Council and President of Community First New Forest presented the certificates, after the volunteers had been welcomed by Mr Michael Clowes, Chief Officer of Community First New Forest.
There was a real feeling of celebration about the whole evening. It was a great opportunity for everyone not only to be recognised for the work that they do and the services their organisations provide, but the chance to get together and ‘meet all the lovely volunteers’.
The buffet after the certificate presentation gave everyone the chance to mingle and to exchange stories. One volunteer commented ‘I had no idea that so much voluntary work is going on in the community. It is lovely, knowing that the time and effort given are acknowledged and rewarded.’
