Saints player Adam Lallana scored with residents on a housing estate in Totton when he officially kicked off a new football facility.
In an initiative enabled by Community First New Forest’s PRIME Co-ordinator Stephanie Bell, new goalposts have been installed in a field next to Lawford Way using funding from Totton & Eling Town Council in partnership with Knightstone Housing Association.
The Southampton Football Club player was delighted to cut the ribbon across the goals and happily chatted to the crowds in the April sunshine, he also helped pick out the winning free raffle tickets for 3 lucky youngsters who won footballs donated by Community First New Forest.
Totton Town Councillors Ron Scrivens and Brian Lucas were pleased to contribute their Community Engagement Grant towards the provision of football posts on the green open space, in response to requests received from local families.
Peter Rand, Knightstone’s Housing Officer for the neighbourhood, added: “This is a fantastic project and we’ve shown our support by funding half of the costs.”
Stephanie Bell said: “I was delighted see such great support for the local community from the town council and Knightstone.
The new goalposts will give the area a real boost, providing a safe and fun outdoor facility where everyone can practise their football skills.” |
