therefrom left to right: head of leisure services Bob Millard; Esther Rantzen; NFDC chairman Cllr Les Puttock TV personality Esther Rantzen visited Totton Health and Leisure on Sunday 11 October to officially start ‘The Big Cycle’, which raised over £3500 for Naomi House children’s hospice.

Seventy-nine New Forest fundraisers geared up for the four-hour indoor cycling class, which was led by Totton Health and Leisure fitness manager Toby White.

“As far as we know this was one of the biggest events of this nature held on the south coast,” said Toby.

The fundraisers were also given support and encouragement on the day from New Forest District Council chairman Cllr Les Puttock. “This was a brilliant event,” said Cllr Puttock. “It was so inspiring to see participants of all ages and abilities taking part.

From start to finish they were all so motivated and committed to raising money for such a good cause and a big well-done to Toby for organising such a successful event.”

‘The Big Cycle’ was supported by Schwinn Indoor Cycling, Bacardi UK and Asda who supplied spot prizes throughout the event.
