The photography competition organised by PRIME co-ordinator Stephanie Bell is taking a fresh look at connecting with the wider community where traditional methods may not build the necessary links.
This competition has prizes chosen to appeal to local residents and inspire a high participation level.
These have been kindly donated by Community First New Forest, Swaythling Housing Association and Western Challenge Housing Association.
WAVE 105 will be presenting prizes to the winners at a Christmas party at Blackfield Neighbourhood Centre (who have kindly donated use of their hall) attended by all entrants and local agencies/partners.
All entries will be on exhibition at the Centre giving further scope to agencies to forge links/consult with the community.
The Junior PCSO’s have been given a single use camera with free processing (from a successful JAG funding bid) and extra cameras are available for those with no access to a camera or camera-phone.
The photos we receive will give us the impression those living there have of their local environment. Out of this we can prioritise which issues have the most effect on the local community.
The entrants to the competition will give us a starting point for working with the community to enable them to build relationships with the correct partners they need to assist them.
A multi-agency walk round took place to start building relationships between relevant agencies and to identify ownership of issues.
The ‘BRAND NEW FOREST’ campaign title developed by New Forest District Council is going to be used as a tool to inspire the residents that they are part of the wider New Forest community.
