Organised by the Volunteer Centre at Community First New Forest, ‘Celebrate Volunteering’ will be held on 9 November 2010.
The event was to have taken place last month [May 2010] but was moved because of funding issues.
Held in partnership with New Forest District Council ‘Celebrate Volunteering’ will be taking place at Hoburne Holiday Parks in Bashley who, as in previous years, will be providing the venue free of charge.
The purpose of the event will be to recognise the value of voluntary organisations and volunteers across the New Forest.
Certificates will be presented to nominated organisations and the volunteers involved with them.
The presentations will be made by Cllr Pat Wyeth, the Chairman of New Forest District Council and President of Community First New Forest.
Community First New Forest is encouraging voluntary organisations throughout the New Forest to nominate themselves and up to five of their committed volunteers, who they feel in their opinion should receive a certificate and represent them.
Due to the change in event date, the closing date for nominations has been put back to 30 September 2010 giving organisations plenty of time to get in their nominations.
All nominations received already will be carried forward to the re-arranged date.
Speaking about the evening, Hazel Dyson, New Forest Volunteer Centre Co-ordinator at Community First New Forest says,
“This very special event recognises the value of voluntary organisations and their volunteers across the New Forest. It’s our chance each year to publicly say a really big thank you to our ‘unsung heroes’ in the community for the wonderful work they do.”
