Young Carers Time-4-U

Street Dance and Sumo wrestling come to New Milton this Friday, 4 June, 12noon-3pm, as part of Community First New Forest’s Young Carers project.

Children and teenagers from across the New Forest will be enjoying some much needed time out at the event at the Phoenix Centre thanks to support from New Milton Masonic Lodge.

For many, it will be a welcome break from caring responsibilities that dominate their lives.

“I was lucky enough to attend a party put on for Young Carers and couldn’t believe how the children were able to be children – the laughter, the smiles.  It was amazing to see that little bit of sunshine in their lives which they wouldn’t have had without the YC service.  My son now plays football and goes on outings that wouldn’t have been possible without the project.  He wouldn’t have the joys of being able to be a young boy and to mix with other children, and know that he isn’t the only one with a “different” Mum.”

The Young Carers Project can also help families access services that will make their lives easier as well as offering 1-2-1 support, group work and activities.

So if you think you might be a Young Carer, or that someone in your family might be, get in touch with the New Forest Young Carers project.

They’d also love to hear from you if you’d be interested in either volunteering or supporting them in some way.
