Winners announced in Poster Slogan Competition – ‘Volunteers Do It Willingly’

Do It Volunteering made easyHampshire Volunteer Centres have announced the winners of their poster slogan competition.

The winning entry ‘Volunteers Do It Willingly’ was submitted by Doreen Eames who is a volunteer at Moorgreen Hospital in West End.

‘Volunteers Do It Willingly’ will be used in a marketing campaign to launch national Volunteers’ Week. During the week, which is an annual celebration of volunteers and volunteering, voluntary and community groups show how important volunteering is to the community, to service users and to volunteers themselves.

‘Volunteers Do It Willingly’ will be appearing on 1000 posters across Hampshire over the next year.

Speaking on behalf of the judging panel, Hazel Dyson, New Forest Volunteer Centre Coordinator, said, “We particularly liked this slogan as not only it is a catchy phrase but it ties in with the ‘Do-It’ website (www.do-it.org.uk) which is the national database of volunteering opportunities in the UK”.

As well as the satisfaction of seeing her slogan on posters across Hampshire, Doreen Eames received prize money of £100.

The competition organizers were overwhelmed with entries, receiving nearly 200 suggestions.

The second prize was awarded to Sherianne Gooden-Husbands for ‘Volunteer – We all have something to give’ and the third prize was won by Adam Marsden for ‘Give a little, gain a lot’.

Both slogans will be used in Hampshire Volunteer Centres’ marketing leaflets and all three winning entries will be used on the network’s website (www.hampshirevolunteers.org.uk).
