The Volunteer Centre at Community First New Forest will be at the Salvation Army Hall, Roundhills, Fordingbridge on the 24th March 2011 from 10.00 am until 11.30 am, giving you the chance to find out about the voluntary, community groups and charities in the area.

As well as being a great way to get involved in the community, volunteering has also been shown to give a number of other benefits.

These include meeting new people, developing an interest in new things, learning new skills and increasing knowledge.

Volunteering even helps people to develop their CV and can in some cases even lead to paid employment.

Volunteer Centre Co-ordinator, Hazel Dyson, at Community First New Forest is hoping to reach as many people as possible throughout the area.

Hazel says,

"We want anyone who is interested in volunteering to come along.  People can have an informal chat and there is no obligation if they don't want to take things further."

Hazel added

"There's nothing to lose but if you're looking for a challenging, rewarding and fulfilling experience then volunteering may well be for you".

There are numerous volunteering opportunities on offer in the New Forest from working with children or animals to driving a minibus.

Whatever your interests and whether you have a little time or a lot then in Hazel's experience people can find something to suit them.

She concludes,

"Whether you want to improve your CV with new skills, meet new people or just feel good about yourself then the Volunteer Centre can link you up with a volunteering opportunity that could change your life for the better".
