Would you like to try volunteering for a day?

Would you like to help at an event, run a stall, be a car park attendant or a marshall? Maybe you would like to do some environmental work, help with a street collection or make some cakes?

Or could you help with a dog show, children’s games, take entrance money or set up stalls at a fun day?

A list is now available at the Volunteer Centre at Community First New Forest of local events where people have the opportunity to volunteer for a day.

Throughout the year, the New Forest Volunteer Centre is approached by many different charities and community organizations which are organising events such as shows, festivals, family activity days and fairs.

With the Olympics and Para-Olympics approaching the amount of events is set to increase.

Hazel Dyson, Volunteer Centre Co-ordinator, is hoping the chance to get involved for a day will encourage many more people to help.

Hazel says “All the opportunities on the list are for one off days and will give people a taste of volunteering and that feel good factor that comes with helping in some way.

If it is difficult to find time and people don’t wish to make a long term commitment then this is the ideal opportunity to have a go at something different, whilst making new friends and contributing to the local community.”

Hazel adds, “Without help our local charities would be unable to stage these events and would miss out on the opportunity of raising funds for their groups and awareness of their causes.

You could make it possible for this to happen whilst enjoying a new experience.”
