Our job is to address transport problems in the New Forest. This could be because of individual mobility difficulties or simply lack of public transport services.
We will work with individuals and groups to find solutions to these problems, using the resources at our disposal and identifying other resources, which are available through national and local government grants and voluntary action.
Volunteers
We have a pool of voluntary drivers and passenger assistants. If you are interested in this kind of work please contact us for information about opportunities and training.
MiDAS Training
(Minibus Drivers Awareness Scheme)
It is recommended that all drivers of community minibuses undertake MiDAS training. We offer New Driver and Refresher MiDAS training. This is normally held at Ringwood, but we are happy to arrange training at a time and place convenient to you.
Wheels to Work
The Wheels to Work Moped Loan Scheme is designed for people aged between 16 and 25 who don’t have access to public or private transport to get them to a job, vocational training or to attend interviews. A moped can be loaned for 3 to 12 months depending on your circumstances.
Minibus Hire
Our accessible minibuses are available for hire by community groups. Groups normally provide their own MiDAS trained driver, but if this is not possible we may be able to arrange for a volunteer to help.
The New Forest Minibus Brokerage has been set up to optimise the use of community minibuses. If you need a minibus in the New Forest, we can identify the nearest available vehicle and either book it for you, or give you the name and number of the person to contact. You will also need to be a member of Community First, New Forest.
If you operate a community minibus and would like to join the brokerage, please telephone us.
To obtain a booking form, current charges and to check availability, phone us on 01425 482773

We run pre-booked minibus services in the Fordingbridge, Lyndhurst, and Brockenhurst areas and Dial-a-Ride in Totton, Waterside and Coastal Town areas.
