These were taken at Pennington Fun Day and you can read a report after the last picture.

Community First, New Forest attended the Pennington Fun Day, on August 1, 2003, organised through Jane Gibbons, the community development worker and the Pennington Community Action Group.

Disappointed with the drizzly day after days of sunshine, the turn out comprised the doughty team of Jackie Hartless and Michelle Badcock (pictured with General Waste) amongst other community workers and professionals. They brought information about all the projects running under the Community First umbrella: the New Forest & Totton College training partnership, the volunteer bureau, Nightstop, Care & Repair and community transport.

Activities were provided for all ages from pre-school fun with water and sand to St Barbes Museum bringing costumes from days gone by to dress up in. Cricket games were set up and played until the drizzle turned to rain!

Information and advice about recycling and conserving energy were also provided by Mary Rainbow, the NFDC community safety officer, attended by General Waste.

So much work went into setting up the day, that it was heartening that apart from the community involvement in the stalls, around 40 people turned up to see what was going on including.. (also pictured) This event may become an annual event, so lets hope the weather is kinder next year!
