Christmas Volunteering Opportunities

With Christmas just around the corner (or so it seems given the amount of tinsel in the shops already), for some people their thoughts turn to volunteering.

Whilst many of the charities we work with are looking for more longer term support there are some who could definitely do with an extra pair of hands (or several) around the festive period.

So, if you have been thinking about volunteering this winter and would like to help out over the Christmas period why not check out our volunteering opportunities.

Whether you are looking to do something for a few weeks, a few months or even just the odd day in December, we know these organisations would love to hear from you. Information on how to apply is included below via the links.

Extra Elves needed to help sort toys this Christmas

TEDS provides quality pre-loved baby and children’s items at affordable prices from its shop in Ringwood. Run as a Social Enterprise, TEDS is able to offer support to local playgroups, child focused groups and agencies, charities and more with free and discounted goods.

A few more pairs of hands would be much appreciated around Christmas time and the New Year to help with the mass of donated items that we have to sort through.

Stock is donated or given via an "exchange system" and these items each have to be thoroughly hand checked and then cleaned, batteries fitted, inflated, washed and dried and generally made ready to be used, worn, played with and loved again!

Help to Host our Christmas Tea for elderly people on 17th December 2019

The Memory Box Project is funded by a National Lottery Community Fund grant to provide free reminiscence sessions to people living with dementia in hospitals, public libraries and residential and day care settings.

The project has been running in Hampshire since 2016, and is now being rolled out across Dorset.

We are always looking to engage a number of volunteers to facilitate reminiscence sessions in a variety of settings in order that we can satisfy the growing demand for our services.

As a one off we would also love to welcome volunteers to help host a Christmas afternoon tea in West Moors for 17th December? The party is for elderly people living with dementia in care homes in Ringwood and West Moors as part of The Memory Box Project.
