The Minstead Trust is urgently seeking volunteers for the following roles:

Wood Turning Enthusiast - Working as part of a small team, supporting adults with learning disabilities, on a one to one basis, providing instruction and support on basic wood-turning skills

Skills support with literacy and numeracy - To work one to one in sessions of half an hour with 3 to 5 students on a Monday morning. You would be helping the students with their reading, writing, money skills, telling the time, numbers etc. according to the individuals need and using age-appropriate materials and resources.

Families Matter: Puppet Stage and Sound Crew
Praisin' Hands Puppets based at Hythe URC is looking for 2 people with strong muscles to load and lift equipment from the van, set up the stage, watch the very entertaining children's puppet show and then dismantle the stage and load up the equipment. Any expertise/experience in sound desk/lighting would be valuable, but not required.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will significantly impact organisations approach to data privacy compliance.  You should start preparing now to make sure you are compliant when the GDPR comes into effect in May 2018.  In this session you will be looking at:

  • GDPR and what has changed
  • Direct marketing and what we mean by consent
  • Reviewing your privacy notices and being compliant
  • Preparation for GDPR in audits/action points
  • Update on fundraising practice – including regulator, fundraising preference service and codes of practice.

Building Relationships – Enabling Action Through Communication

  • Have you wondered why you “click” with some people and not with others?
  • Do you sometimes think you are just not speaking the “same language”?

Effective communication is the cornerstone to any relationship, whether you are a manager, employee or parent, understanding your style and that of the people around you will enable you to improve relationships and work better as a team.

Topics will include communication styles and what motivates people and how do you know? The trainer is Sheila Nash.

Trigger Tool Training

FREE training is being provided for anyone who has contact with people in their homes or in other situations in their professional or voluntary role.

The Trigger Tool pulls together in one useful document the contact details of a range of agencies and organisations that can be of use when in contact with people who may need support.

The training provides an opportunity to consider how and when to use the information provided in the Tool; with a training pack available for you to take away at the end.
