It’s Panto time for young and old

Panto - Dame Perrie Winkle

Community First New Forest’s Call and Go and Young Carer Services are teaming up for a special Panto outing this January.

For the first time, clients of both services will go on the same trip as a pilot for a new project.

Call and Go is a flexible bus service that will take clients to set destinations.

Anyone whose travel needs are not met by public bus services can use the service.

Young Carers provides a range of support services for Young Carers and their families in the New Forest.

It offers information and advice, someone to talk to, time out from caring, support in schools and family support.

Wendy Preston from the Call and Go team said “We’ve been thinking about doing something like this for a while as some of our older people are very socially isolated and don’t get to mix with younger people at all.  And some of the Young Carers don’t have grandparents around, so it made sense to get them together.

We’re hoping this will just be the first of many more intergenerational trips.

Some of the Young Carers already have ideas for what we can do next – although I’m not sure how many of our older people will be up for rock climbing!

We might just stick to something like crazy golf or waffles and ice cream.”
