Transport Services

Transport Services

Our job is to address transport problems in the New Forest. This could be because of individual mobility difficulties or simply lack of public transport services.  We will work with individuals and groups to find solutions to these problems, using the resources at our disposal and identifying other resources, which are available through national and local government grants and voluntary action.  We will advise on any transport matter – if we don’t know the answer, we will know someone who does!

We operate a variety of transport services including the following, a Social Services funded car scheme to provide transport for clients of social services. The transport is used by children, people with learning disabilities, older people, people with physical disabilities and people with mental health problems.  Requests for this transport service must come via Social Services.

Our accessible minibuses are available for hire by community groups. Groups normally provide their own MiDAS trained driver, but if this is not possible we may be able to arrange for a volunteer to help. The New Forest Minibus Brokerage has been set up to optimise the use of community minibuses. If you need a minibus in the New Forest, we can identify the nearest available vehicle and either book it for you, or give you the name and number of the person to contact. We have a pool of voluntary drivers and passenger assistants. To access this service you will also need to be a member of Community First, New Forest.

It is recommended that all drivers of community minibuses undertake MiDAS training. We offer New Driver and Refresher MiDAS training which is normally held at Ringwood, but can be arranged at a time and place convenient to you if required.

We run pre-booked minibus services in the Fordingbridge, Lyndhurst, and Brockenhurst areas and Call & Go in Totton, Waterside and Coastal Town areas.

We also operate the moped loan scheme which aims to help unemployed young people in rural areas overcome their transport problems by providing a moped, free CBT training, helmets and gloves.
