Young Carers from across the New Forest are continuing to benefit from a partnership between Community First New Forest and the Forest Arts Centre in New Milton.
The latest in a series of creative activities took place during half term and was the most successful yet with Young Carers aged from 7 to 17 having a go at street dance, drama and jewellery making before performing for their families.
One Mum said “it was lovely to see my daughter relaxed and enjoying herself. I couldn’t believe how confident and happy she looked while she was dancing.”
Young Carers Coordinator Marie Shotbolt added: “Jackie Goddard and her team at Forest Arts have put on another amazing day and we are so grateful to them for giving us this opportunity.
We rely on partnerships like this or donations from community groups to allow us to put on activities. It makes a real difference to our Young Carers to get the chance to meet other young people who understand what they’re going through and have fun at the same time.”
10 year old Katie said “today has been great. It was well planned out and I wasn’t bored at all.”
The Young Carers Service currently works with over 150 Young Carers and their families across the New Forest providing support, advice and activities.
