Community First New Forest is giving residents the opportunity to ‘have their say’ about how £27,500 is to be spent on tackling rural crime and anti-social behaviour.
Community organisations in the New Forest are invited to apply for grants, ranging from £250 to £2000, to fund their own rural crime initiatives following the award from Community First New Forest.
These can include small grassroots community projects and larger non-profit making organisations working for local community, such as churches and schools.
The aim of the Have Your Say scheme is:
• To reduce the crime and anti-social behaviour experienced by communities; remote rural dwellings and isolated settlements, rural businesses and landowners
• Reduce domestic abuse experienced in the rural communities and raise awareness of reporting mechanisms
• Increase satisfaction and confidence in the criminal justice services and community safety partners
When all applications have been received, by midday on June 3, the public will be invited to two Have your Say events to vote for the projects they would like to see funded.
The public events will be held on 11 June, 2013, at Avonway Centre, Fordingbridge, and 13 June, 2013, at Brockenhurst Village Hall, Brockenhurst, both at 6pm.
Jackie Hartless at Community First New Forest said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for local people to tackle local issues on rural crime in the New Forest. We are looking forward to receiving grant applications from all areas.”
