Paulton’s Park fun for New Forest Young Carers

Thanks to the generosity of Ringwood and Fordingbridge Lions Club, a group of local Young Carers enjoyed a trip to Paulton’s Park.

The children – all aged between 8 and 14 years old – took full advantage of having a day to relax and not worry about other family members.

One teenager said “It’s been the best day I have had in a long time.  Just being able to run around and go on the rides but knowing there was someone there to talk to if you wanted”

Young Carers Coordinator Marie Shotbolt added: “This has been a fantastic day out for us and we are so grateful to Ringwood and Fordingbridge Lions for funding it for us.  They arranged all of the tickets and even the packed lunches.  We wouldn’t have been able to afford to offer something like this without this generous support.
Days like this make a real difference to our Young Carers and their families so we are always pleased to hear from either organisations who can support us, or people who want to volunteer their help.”

The Young Carers Service currently works with over 150 Young Carers and their families across the New Forest providing support, advice and activities.
