New Young Carers Support Worker

Community First New Forest has appointed Tanya Brierley as the new Support Worker for the Young Carers Service.

Tanya will be working with Marie Shotbolt, the Young Carers Coordinator, to support Young Carers and their families across the New Forest

Tanya says “I’m really excited to join the team and start working not just with the young carers, but also schools. I’m keen to develop more school partnerships so that our local young carers are receiving the best possible support available”.

Tanya graduated from Bournemouth University with a BA HONS degree in Community Development. Her previous employment has included street based youth work, summer play schemes and community outreach work.

She hopes that her enthusiasm and motivation will encourage young carers to get involved in planning activities, growing the support service and raising awareness.

Young Carers Coordinator Marie added “Tanya is a great addition. She has already started meeting with schools and young carers and has some fantastic plans for the future. We’re really glad we found her”
