New Forest Young Carers get a boost from the Beavers

An enterprising group of Beavers from the 5th New Forest North (Testwood) group have learnt about friendship and fund-raising to help a local good cause.

The Beavers, all aged between 6 and 8, donated money to support Community First New Forest Young Carers after a hands on demonstration of what Young Carers do.

Young Carers coordinator Marie Shotbolt said “We are so grateful to the Beavers and so impressed that they have managed to raise over £100 for us. With Gift Aid, that means we get £125 which is enough for trips and activities for around 25 children. Time out and the chance to relax and be a child makes a real difference to the Young Carers we support.

We’re always happy to receive donations but this one is extra special because of the age of the children who raised it. It’s lovely that they listened to what Young Carers go through having to juggle school and caring responsibilities and wanted to help”
