Young Carers

New Forest Young CarersMy Mum drinks too much..........
My Dad has depression.....
I have to look after my younger brothers and sisters because my Mum is ill.....
My brother has Autism....

If any of these sound familiar you could be a Young Carer.

That’s someone up to the age of 18 who helps look after someone or perhaps does more around the house than most of their friends. Or it might be that you spend a lot of time worrying about a relative or staying in to keep an eye on them. That makes you a Young Carer as well.

Most of the time, you and your family might be doing fine. But sometimes, life can get a little challenging. That’s where we come in.

We can help families access services that will make their lives easier as well as offering 1-2-1 support, group work and activities. You can see our leaflet here.

So if you’d like to meet other young people like yourself, have some time-out, get extra support at school or just know that there’s someone there who’ll listen to you when you want to talk, get in touch.

You can have as little or as much to do with us as you want. Some of our Young Carers like to come on trips, others just want someone to help them explain to school why they sometimes struggle with their homework.

It’s completely up to you.

You can call us on 01425 482773, send us a text on 07922 594 335, email [email protected] or message us via Facebook – New Forest Young Carers Service.
