We are delighted to welcome to our new Wheels to Work Co-ordinator for Winchester and East Hants, Nicola Holmwood.

Wheels to Work provides people who are actively job seeking or struggling to get to work or college due to lack of public transport or antisocial hours, with a moped to enable them to access job opportunities more easily.

Nicola, who has a background in charity work and marketing in New Zealand where she was been living until last year, says “I’m really looking forward to getting more people out on the road and helping them get to work! It’s great to be able to help local people in the area I’ve chosen to live. This is such a great idea”.

The hirers get a 50cc or a 125cc moped, fully taxed and insured with full breakdown and service cover and they are provided with a helmet, gloves and a protective high-visibility jacket. Compulsory Basic training is provided. The scheme only costs hirers their fuel and a weekly charge of £17-£20.

There are currently 8 bikes in the Winchester area and 10 in East Hampshire.

If you, or someone you know, would like to find out more about the Wheels to Work scheme, Nicola can be contacted at [email protected], 07986 212198 or 01425 282773.
